Inside an elephant

January 18, 2008

A guy at my school once found an elephant skull buried in a sand dune near my hometown. It was really old and brittle so the museum guys had to pour resin into the flaky, porous bone. It’s now on display in the East London museum (at least it was last time I checked). Elephants haven’t been roaming our beaches for a couple of hundred years now. How cool must that have been?

I wrote and illustrated a short article about scouts for Menshealth. It’ll be out in the March issue.

Shake the hand

January 11, 2008

I’ve done a couple of paid illustrations this year already, but it’s been on my mind to experiment with my drawings just for the sake of it. I’ve really only been back into drawing for just over a year, so it’s important to keep expanding into new styles, or at least seeing what works for me and what doesn’t. My new trick is to draw things at A3 – it makes for better detail and thinner, crisper lines. So, here’s what I did yesterday.
